Dumsor To Ease - John Jinapor

300 megawatts of electricity has been added to the national grid in a move that will ease the power crisis facing the country.

According to the Deputy Minister for Energy, Mr John Jinapor, a unit of the Takoradi International Company (TICO) was back on stream, adding that efforts were being made to restore a second unit.

Ghana is currently shedding between 400 and 700 Megawatts of power due to multiplicity of factors, including lack of gas to power thermal plants and low water levels in the country’s dams.

Speaking to Accra-based Joy FM Tuesday, Mr Jinapor stressed that the government was working hard to “close the gap appreciably”.

“We hope to continue to work on that and even as we work on the barges, we’re hoping to work on the existing plants,” he said.
