Committee To Probe Haphazard Issuance Of Licenses And Permits By EPA

A three member committee has been set up to investigate the issuance of permits and licenses to the public by the Environmental Protection Agency, EPA.

The Ministry of Science, Environment, Technology and Innovation took the step following complaints from the public on the issuance of permits to site gas and fuel stations, and factories in areas where operations of these companies affect the well-being of individuals.

The immediate cause for setting up the committee was a complaint by Green Line Logistics alleging irregularities in the issuance of permit to another company for the importation, transportation and storage of Ammonium Nitrate to some parts of the Western Region.

The Committee has up to four weeks to present its report.
