Mason Remanded For Robbery, Rape

The Odumase Krobo Circuit Court has remanded a 24-year-old mason, Godwin Tetteh, alias Bashiru, into prison custody for two weeks for robbery and rape.

Tetteh who was well composed and showed no sign of remorse pleaded not guilty to the two charges levelled against him, adding “My Lord, I even don’t know the complainant or the husband, let alone committing the crime I am accused of”.

The prosecutor, Chief Inspector John Akuetteh, told the court, presided over by Mr Asmah Akwasi Asiedu, that both the complainant and the accused resided at Salem, a suburb of Odumase Krobo

He said on February 8, 2015, at about 9p.m., the complainant and her husband, Francis Terkpertey Terkper, were attacked and robbed by Tetteh and his accomplice who is on the run.

According to the prosecutor, the two attackers, masked and wielding a gun and a cutlass, entered the complainants room after firing a shot outside and collected their four mobile phones valued at GH¢500.00
C/Insp Akuetteh said the robbers not satisfied with their loot, dragged the complainant and her husband to an uncompleted building within the premises and raped the complainant in turns in the presence of her husband with a gun pointed at him.

The complainant later reported the incident to the police and she was issued with medical report forms to attend hospital for treatment

C/Insp Akuetteh said when the police visited the crime scene, they retrieved one BB32g cartridge which the complainant claimed Tetteh and his accomplice fired.

Later, the complainant assisted by others arrested Tetteh and took him to the station, where he was rearrested and detained.

During interrogation, Tetteh denied the charges levelled against him.

Meanwhile, efforts are being made by the police to arrest his accomplice.

In a related development, Tetteh again appeared before the same court for unlawful entry, stealing and threat of death.

C/Insp. Akuetteh told the court that on February 15, 2015 at about 8p.m., the complainant, one Christiana Padi, was taking her bath together with her nine year-old daughter when all of a sudden, Tetteh entered the bathroom holding a knife.

He said Tetteh asked Padi to keep quiet for him to have sexual intercourse with her or he would stab her.

In spite of the warning, Padi started shouting for her co-tenant to come to her aid.

The prosecutor said sensing danger, Tetteh took to his heels.

The complainant reported the attack to the police and identified Tetteh who was in the police cells in connection with a robbery case as the one who attacked her.
