KMA Would Pursue Satellite Markets Project

Mr. Kojo Bonsu, the Kumasi Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE), has underlined the determination of the Assembly to stimulate economic growth through the building of more satellite markets.

He said currently the Assembly was working on 15 such markets, adding that, on completion, they would significantly help to boost business activities in the city.

The explained that the advantage was that they would also free the Central Business District (CBD) of congestion.

Mr. Bonsu said this when he inspected the progress of work on one of the markets at Krofrom.

The Assembly is using its internally-generated funds and support from development partners to finance their construction.

The Krofrom project would provide space for 2,500 traders when ready and comes with a clinic, banking halls, police station, fire unit and paved car park.

About 50 per cent of the job has been done and these involved the building of sheds and construction of the drainage system.

Mr. Bonsu said everything would be done to successfully see the project through and urged the traders to back and cooperate with the Assembly.
