The Denu Divisional Police Command has announced a 1,000 cedi reward for anyone who volunteers information for the arrest of the seven criminals who escaped from police cells in Denu in the Volta region on Friday.


The criminals managed to escape with 2 AK 47 rifles and are currently nowhere to be found. There are rumors they may have crossed into neighboring Togo. Two police officers were on duty the night of the escape.

Speaking to TV3, the Denu Divisional Police Commander, Augustine Luguyari said the police service has intensified efforts to re-arrest the criminals, two of whom are Nigerians. The escaped criminals are Stanley Wada alias Kadee,30, Linus Ashietey 31, Kwaku Azusu alias Boyo, 24 and two Nigerians Albert Obinna, 21 and Tobi Kuchu, 20.

The rest who were involved in minor crimes are Adam Gomala, 25 and George Dagga, 24.

The Denu Divisional commander said “We've mobilized officers from other divisions to augment our strength e.g the Keta Division and we got assistance from Accra, the FPU and SWAT. So we were about 80 officers and with the presence of the regional police commander, we combed dilapidated buildings to see if they're hiding the weapons to see whether they are hiding the weapons.

“We were not successful but we are still in the process. We are appealing to the public who have information on them to assist us to recapture them. They pose a security threat to everyone in the society including we the officers.”

He further indicated that they have alerted the Togolese Police Service to aid in the search and arrest of the criminals.  Information reaching tv3network.com also indicates that the two police officers who were on duty in the night of the escape have been given 10 days to produce the criminals of face the law.
