Namibian High Commission Officially Opens In Accra

The Republic of Namibia will on Friday March 20, hold an inaugural ceremony to officially open the country’s High Commission in Ghana.

The event will be held at the premises of the Namibian High Commission located at 21 Nortei-Ababio Street, Airport Residential Area.

According to Mr. Gabriel Shaanika, Deputy Head of Mission, “Until now, The Republic of Namibia did not have a permanent representation here in Ghana. People and travelers residing in Ghana had to go to Abuja (Nigeria) for services including visa applications and other travel related support from the Namibia High Commission in Nigeria.

The opening of the Namibian High Commission in Ghana will end the challenges people had to endure to obtain services from the High Commission.

As a member of the African Union and the Commonwealth of nations, our presence in Ghana will also contribute to strengthening cordial relations with the Government and the people of Ghana as a whole.”

Mr. Shaanika added that “the High Commission will ensure the free flow of information and knowledge about the Republic of Namibia, create avenues for trade and investments, and unbounded tourism opportunities in Namibia”.
