Robbers Strike At Ama Busias Residence

Armed robbers on Sunday struck the Abelenkpe residence of Madam Ama Busia, an elder of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and sister of late Prime Minister K.A. Busia, in Accra.

The Greater Accra Regional Police Commander, DCOP Christian Yohunu, upon receiving the information, quickly dispatched the Crime officer of the Tesano Police Command to the scene.

Initial investigations showed bloodstains in the hall of the elderly woman and suspicious telltale materials thought to have been left behind by the fleeing marauders.

The Police have swung into action and are holding a suspect for questioning. Although the Police would not say much, they appear positive about making headway.

Shortly after arrival of the Tesano Police at the scene, another officer arrived from the Kotobabi Police Station. Crime scene cops also showed up to examine the place and to undertake other routine procedures which are usually taken when such crimes occur.

“I was in the church when word reached me that I was wanted in the house. It was distressful. When I got home I learnt that three of my houseboys had been injured by the robbers and were receiving treatment at the Achimota Hospital. This is the third time that I am passing through this kind of trauma,” she said.

Inside her bedroom, she found the place in disarray. The robbers had ransacked the place. They appeared to be more interested in the cash than the jewelry, which interestingly was intact. Her fridge had been opened as was the other bedrooms in the house. Sympathizers were around to support her as she showed signs of trauma.
