NDC Chairman And Leaders Resign

Leaders and the Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) at Asawase, a Zongo community in the Ashanti region, have tendered in their resignation from the party following the resignation of Hon.Muntaka Mubarak as Sports Minister. The leaders, in collaboration with over 600 NDC youth in the area, are reported to have organized a massive demonstration this morning against the party and have destroyed valuable items in the partys office in the area. Speaking to Peace FM, the leaders revealed that they have decided to resign and embark on a demonstration because they believe Hon. Mubarak who they claim is the pride of Zongo, resigned as a result of pressure from President Mills, the Deputy Chief of Staff and the Former Sports Minister, Hon. E. T Mensah. They have however asked the President to come out and explain the circumstances surrounding the ex-minister"s resignation within 5 days or else they will embark on another demonstration, with or without police escort. In an earlier interview with Peacefmonline, the presidential spokesperson, Hon. Mahama Ayariga, disclosed that Hon. Muntaka Mubarak did not resign under duress, but on his own accord.
