Nigeria To Close Land And Sea Borders Over Elections

The Nigerian government has announced it will close its land and sea borders on the eve of March 28, 2015, ahead of the country’s presidential and parliamentary elections, the foreign ministry said on Wednesday.

According to a press release, the borders will be closed “from midnight on March 25 until midnight on March 28 2015.”

This is “to allow for peaceful conduct of the forthcoming national elections.”

“The Nigeria Immigration Service has also been directed to ensure that non-Nigerians do not participate in any part of the election processes,” the released added.

Nigeria election postponed Nigeria’s election, which was scheduled for February 14th, was postponed to March 28th because of security reasons.
