Black Queens Goalkeeper Bitten By Scorpion At Team Camp

Fafali Dumashi, Goalkeeper of Ghana's female senior National team, the Black Queens has survived a deadly experience scorpion bite at the team's camp base, Ghanasportsonline.com can reveal.

The Queens camp was rocked with horror after Duamshi, who kept the post for Ghana in the 2-1 victory against Zimbabwe at the Accra Sports stadium in the All African Games qualifier last Saturday reported to team mates that she has been stung by a scorpion at the Prampram premises.

The poisonous animal struck the goalie after Ghana's game and has received medical attention afterwards.

Reports say the fear-stricken young goalkeeper was rushed to the a nearby health center for treatment and is responding to steadily.

Mercy-Myles, skipper for the Black Queens confirmed the news to Accra-based Atinka FM saying the situation was 'harrowing'.

"It is true that scorpions are all over the place and so we have been warned not to go to certain places around the premises",

"She (Dumashi) was doing some stuff at the backyard and I understand there were some bit of bushes around and that's where she was bitten by the scorpion",

Several players and team officials who have been on national team duty at the Prampram premises have on countless number of times reported of citing scorpions and other poisonous animal at the camp base. The isolated camp is situated at a location where scorpions are prevalent. 

Management Committee Chairperson of the Black Queens Linear Addy also confirmed that indeed the goalkeeper was bitten by a scorpion but the medical team has been up to task offering treatment to her and is hopeful she will be back to action despite the complications.

"We got the reports and it was true but now she has been work on medically and I see improvement",

"There are scorpions at the place and so those around here conduct regular fumigation exercises but it looks like plenty of the animals are still around",

The goalkeeper was not readily available to share the nightmarish experience as she was still being treated and in the recovery process.

It is not yet known whether the regular shot-stopper will be available for the all important 2nd leg clash of the All African Games in Zimbabwe as the team prepares to fly out to Harare in the coming days
