We May Go To Court And Stop AFAG

The police administration has indicated it will get a court order to halt a demonstration by the Alliance for Accountable Governance (AFAG). Against directives from the police administration for the group to postpone the protest march, AFAG insists it would go ahead with its plans on Thursday to protest harsh economic conditions in the country. Head of Police Public Relations DSP Kwesi Ofori told Joy news the police cannot guarantee safety during the demonstration as they would be busy preparing for the visit of US president Barack Obama and for an intended demolition exercise by city authorities. He said the police might resort to getting a court order to stop the planned protest. The police may resort to go to court and stop them and should they fail to obey the directives of the court, the police may use appropriate means to stop it, he stressed. Meanwhile a leading member of AFAG, Daniel Ofori Atta, has described the polices plans as weak. He however told Joy news the group would obey any directive given by the court.
