Ghana Police Applauds Peace FM

In reaction to Peace FM�s survey conducted on air yesterday on the virtual ascendency of armed robbery cases in the country, the Ghana police service has commended the station highly for taking the patriotic initiative to help deal with the growing menace. Speaking on �Kokrokoo� today, DSP Kwesi Fori revealed that the whole police service listened to the programme yesterday and also read the resultant Peacefmonline news item titled �Armed Robbery On The Ascendency� for which, the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mr. Paul Tawiah Quaye and the entire Police Service wish to congratulate the station. A press release signed by the PRO states; �The Police Public Affairs directorate wishes to inform the general public that it has monitored and taken note of concerns raised by members of the public on the state of armed robbery in the country on your �Kokrokoo� programme on Peace FM. The service wishes to state that it has put measures in place to arrest the situation. This includes intensified day and night patrol and random snap checks at vantage points. Tents cities, a situation where tents are pitched in vulnerable communities, and police personnel camped there, have also been embark upon to combat crime on an hour basis. The police are therefore assuring members of the public that all effort are being made to ensure that they live in a safe and secured environment. The public are therefore entreated to assist the police to combat by volunteering information on criminals and their activities by calling the following police emergency telephone numbers; *021-773906 *021-775769 *021-773900 *021-773695 (hotline) *191 on Tigo, MTN, Kasapa and Vodafone Meanwhile the service appreciates the assistance offered by members of the public that led to the arrest of six armed robbers at Tantra Hill in Accra. The service is still calling for more of such assistance to enable us curb the armed robbery situation.
