Woman Arrested For Cooking Up Rape Story

An unemployed woman at Ho-Bankoe, Bridget Tsahey, who accused three men of gang-raping her and later turned round to say that she made up the story, has been arrested by the police.

Assistant Superintendent of Police in-charge of DOVVSU in the Volta Region, Mr. Isaac I.I. Ahor, who disclosed this to The Ghanaian Times at ho Thursday, said that the woman was on police enquiry bail.

According to him, on March 18, this year at about midday, Tsahey went to the Ho Central Police Station with a story that she visited her boyfriend, Courage Ahiadu at Ho-Anagokodzi that day and they had sex.

She said after the act, the boyfriend went out of the room briefly and came back with two other men, after which the three took turns to forcibly have sex with her.

Mr. Ahor said that, based on Tsahey's complaint, the police rushed to Ahiadu's house and arrested him together with a friend, George Agboadu.

According to Mr. Ahor, the case was immediately referred to DOVVSU and while investigations were ongoing, the woman came out with the confession that she concocted the story against her boyfriend and the two friends to teach them a lesson, because the boyfriend had threatened to jilt her.

Tsahey, who has been charged with deceit of public officer, will be arraigned before the Ho Circuit today.
