Connecting Kids, Connect Anum To ICT & Library

Over 600 pupils of Anum Anglican Basic School has benefited from the numerous projects taking by connecting Kids Education Foundation. Which is a library and an I.C.T facility, the projects funded by Connecting kids’ Education Foundation (CKEF) a Non-Government Organization (NGO), at the cost of GH300, 000.  The project is to help upgrade the reading skills and the knowledge of the pupils in ICT learning.

Addressing the gathering at commissioning in Anum, the Director of  (CKEF) ,Mrs. Ellen Blamires, said, the organization’s aim is to improving literacy in Ghana’s  rural communities , adding that, their other focus is to prepare and lay a sound foundation at the primary level where education matters the most.

She said, they also want to provide an enabling environment for learning, given children in rural communities a fairer opportunity to compete with those in the cities and assured the school of reducing the number of school children who are unable to read as possible as zero within the next three years.

Mrs. Blamires also challenged the pupil to also make learning a habit. Irrespective of where they find themselves. She assured them of the organization’s commitment to support Education in the district. Finally, she called on the institution to also put the facility into good use.

At the programme, Hon. Antwi-Boasiako Sekyere, the Eastern Regional Minister, urged the teachers to show commitment to their profession and give the best of training to the school pupil’s. He called on parents to do more when; it comes to their wards education. And the Government will also make sure there will be progress in our educational system. He ensures teacher’s that, their welfare will also be looked at.

Hon. Thomas Ampem Nyarko, District Chief Executive (DCE) for Asuogyaman, also called on the teachers to make sure the facility and equipment’s provided will be well protected, but urged them to allow the pupils to access and benefit from the facility to help them in future.

Five desktop computers were added to the school to help support the work of the ICT training.

Adontenhene of Anum Traditional Area, Nana Kwasi Anyane urged parents to instill learning discipline in their wards and not to allow them the freedom to play all day and called on the youth to be disciplined.
