Woyongo Condemns Bunkprugu/Yunyoo Chieftaincy Clashes

The Interior Minister, Mark Owen Woyongo has condemned the renewed chieftaincy clashes in Bunkprugu/Yunyoo district of the Northern Region.

Two persons died as a result of renewed chieftaincy clashes between the Jamong and Jafog clams from the Bimoba community.

Several houses were torched during the clashes which necessitated a dusk till dawn curfew imposed on Bunkprugu Township.

The Interior Minister visited the troubled Bunkprugu Township where he emphasized peaceful co-existence.

According to Mark Woyongo, government was getting fed up with the renewed chieftaincy and land clashes continuously recorded in the Bunkprugu/Yunyoo district.

He made a passionate appeal to the overlord of the Mamprugu traditional area, the Nayiri Mahami Bahigu Sheriga to permanently resolve the problems.

He reprimanded residents of the Bunkprugu/Yunyoo district to be law abiding.

Mark Woyongo downplayed calls on government to lift the curfew imposed on Bunkprugu Township for socio-economic activities to triumph.
