I Never Said I Will Go Independent - NPP Parliamentary Aspirant

A New Patriotic Party (NPP) aspirant for Tema West Constituency in the Greater Accra region, Carlos Kingsley Ahenkorah has denied threatening to go independent should the party disqualify him ahead of the parliamentary primaries.

Monday’s edition of the Publisher newspaper published that Carlos Ahenkorah who wants to take the seat of the incumbent MP, Naa Torshie, allegedly said on Oman FM that he has heard of moves to disqualify him during vetting.

If the system uses anything against me and disqualifies me, I will have no option than to go independent. I hope it does not come to that because so far, there is nothing to show that I will be disqualified,” he allegedly said.

However, speaking in an interview on PEACE FM morning show ‘Kokrokoo’ hosted by Kwami Sefa Kayi, Carlos Ahenkorah described the allegation as unfortunate.

According to him, “I will never say that I want to contest as an independent candidate”

I am not sure and I don’t recall using the word independent…they just want to malign and discredit me. If you want to publish something about me, you call me directly and talk to me. This newspaper is not even in town for people to buy. It is not popular. But I believe people like us should be encouraged and not discouraged but this will not discourage me…” he indicated.
