Police Commanders To Be Held For Jail Breaks -Kofi Boakye

DCOP Kofi Boakye, Ashanti Regional Commander, has cautioned senior police officers to be up and doing and vigilant enough to always ensure that suspects in their custody are properly kept, to avoid unnecessary jail breaks.  He noted that the development was alarming and should be nipped in the bud.

DCOP Boakye, who raised the concern at Agona Asamang at the commissioning of a new police station, indicated that in the event of a jail break, it would not be only the personnel on duty at the given time that would be blamed, but also the District and the Divisional commanders for not delivering on their mandate as senior officers in ensuring that their cells are safe enough to keep suspects for the law to take its rightful course against them.

The Police Commander cautioned the residents to stop engaging in unscrupulous activities, because the law will deal with them, since the police have no party colours.  He said those who think they belong to a particular party and can take the law into their hands will have themselves to blame.  He also cautioned the youth in the community to desist from the act of attacking the police, because the police administration would not take kindly to such acts.

DCOP Boakye called for accurate information from the public towards exposing unscrupulous people in the area to help the police get them arrested to ensure that there is total peace and order within the community and the surrounding areas.  Mr. Edward Kussi Ayarkwah, District Chief Executive for the area, commended the Regional Commander for his tremendous efforts in helping the assembly realise its dream of establishing a police station to mitigate crime and armed robbery in the community and surrounding areas.
