Gen. Mosquito: I Felt Bad...And Sad For Sir John

General Secretary of the the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has for the first time revealed that, he was devastated when his comrade-in-arms, Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, known in political circles as Sir John, was voted out of office as the New Patriotic Party’s [NPP] General Secretary.

General Mosquito, as he is affectionately called, made this known during a live studio discussion on UTV’s "Adekye Nsroma" morning show.

Sir John was shown the exit by Mr Kwabena Agyapong, a former Press Secretary to then President J.A. Kufuor, .

Mr Agyapong, who went to the conference grounds - Tamale Sports Stadium - with his left arm in a sling as a result of a motor accident he was involved in prior to the party's National Delegates Conference, obtained 2,529 votes, while Sir John received 1,990.

The two other contestants — Mr Yaw Buabeng Asamoah and Captain Nkrabeah Effah-Darteh (retd) — polled 181 and 46 votes, respectively.

Reflecting publicly on the incident for the first time on Tuesday's "Adekye Nsroma" show, General Mosquito said he really felt the pain of Sir John's loss because they were friends despite their political affiliation.

I was really sad...…I must confess, that I felt very bad when i heard the news…because he is my friend,” he said.
