P.C. Ofori: Ill Sue Her 2.5billion

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa constituency, Hon. P.C. AppiahOfori has threatened to sue Mrs. Faustina Larbi-Mensah, a fishmonger for what he describes as defamation of his name. Mrs. Larbi-Mensah is reported to have petitioned parliament against Hon. Appiah-Ofori, claiming the MP defrauded her in the amount of GH46, 000 (460million cedis). According to her, the MP who signs as managing director of the Dina 111 Fisheries Ltd which is based in Tema approached her sometime in 2007 with a request to assist him with some money in lieu of a deposit against fish that his tuna vessel MV Dina 111 would land. She also revealed that the MP supplied her some fish but failed to supply the required quantity so there was a balance of GH16, 000 (160million) left. She added that in May 2007, Hon. Appiah Ofori, through one Mike Kwakye again approached her to assist him with more money to enable them refurbish the trawler MV Dina 111. She disclosed, that she managed to raise a loan of GH30,000 (300million old cedis) which she handed over to the MP. But since then every effort made on her part to get back her money or the fish has proved futile. Speaking on the air in reaction to this complaint lodged with Parliament by Mrs. Larbi Mensah, Hon Appiah Ofori denied the allegation and said the woman wants to tarnish his image. According to him, Mrs. Larbi always dealt with Kwakye and not him, in matters concerning money. He said he would file a lawsuit against her in the amount of 2.5billion for slander, declaring, Ill sue her 2.5billion, because she never gave me any money, she is just tarnishing my image.
