Residents of Tsito and Aflao, both towns in the Volta Region, woke up over the weekend to witness the murder of two children aged 2 and 6 years, under very mysterious circumstances. In the case of the 2-year-old boy, Daily Guide gathered that on Thursday July 16, the boy, Redeemer Kafui Dzesakuma, left home (at Tsito) at about 2.00pm without returning, forcing the father, Kone George, to report the case to the Police. A day after the boy was reported missing, his grandfather (name withheld) was reportedly spraying some chemicals on some weeds when he ran out of water.He decided to fetch some more water from a nearby borehole from which many residents fetched water from, but came face-to-face with the mortal remains of his grandchild upon opening the lid of the borehole and immediately screamed to announce the horrifying spectacle which attracted residents to the scene. A report was made to the chief and subsequently to the Police. In another development, the body of a six-year-old boy, who had been reported missing at Avakome near Aflao, was found buried in an uncompleted building at Aflao, three days after he failed to return from school, Daily Guide has learnt.The boy, Jesse Henyo, a Primary two pupil of Christ the King Basic School at Avakome, Aflao, was reported to have been sacked from school on Thursday, July 9, for non-payment of fees.Mrs. Lena Henyo, the deceased�s mother, told Daily Guide that the family organized a search party for Jesse when he did not return home from school and reported the matter to the police. She said the search party found the body of the boy in a sitting position in his school uniform and footwear after digging a spot at an uncompleted building near the school. No part of his body had been reported removed, a situation that would have called for a suspicion of ritual murder. Before the body was found, an angry mob went to the residence of the school proprietor and destroyed furniture and house fittings, claiming the school authorities were hiding the boy. Reports say the police at Aflao interrogated some members of the boy�s family and school authorities but no arrests had been made as of the time of going to press. Henyo�s body has been deposited at the Ketu district hospital morgue at Aflao for autopsy. Meanwhile, Daily Guide can report that the murder of the two-year-old boy from Tsito, and the subsequent dumping of his body in a borehole, is making Tsito a non comfortable town for children, after Benjamin and Joseph Bani, nine-year-old twins were murdered and subsequently dumped in a septic tank last year. When Daily Guide visited the town on Saturday, the rumour mill was agog with various accounts from residents. According to one account, the murder of little Redeemer was a revenge to the death of the nine-year-old twins Benjamin and Joseph Bani, who were mysteriously murdered and deposited in a septic tank similar to how little Redeemer was found. As to who was avenging, the rumour mongers could however not tell. Others however said that on the day the boy was reported missing, he allegedly followed the mother to fetch water from the borehole but kept playing on the way and hence could not follow the mother home. They were therefore of the view that little Redeemer might have accidentally fallen into the waterhole. As at the time of going to press however, two people, including little Redeemer�s grandfather who discovered, the body had been arrested. The Anyirawasi District Police Commander, ASP Stephen Kofi Ahiatafu, confirmed the incident to Daily Guide, adding that his outfit is investigating, with more arrests likely to be made. Little Redeemer�s body has been deposited at the Volta Regional Hospital morgue pending autopsy. Readers would recall that somewhere in May last year, the bodies of nine-year old twins, Benjamin and Joseph Bani, were found in a septic tank at Tsito after they had been reported missing in January the same year.
