Tension Looms In ADB Over Plot To Remove MD

Tension is seriously brewing in ADB over a sinister plot by a top executive director of the state-owned banking institution to remove the Managing Director (MD) of the bank, Mr. Stephen Kpordzi, from his position.

After weeks of revolt against the Board of Directors and the Managing Director of ADB, Today has gathered that a top executive director of the bank (name withheld for now) is the brain behind the internal rancour.

That said executive, Today was reliably informed, is currently eyeing the position of the MD and has vowed to do whatever possible to bring his immediate boss, Mr. Kpordzi, and other directors of the bank down in order to achieve his aim.

The said executive, according to sources, is using the bank’s workers’ union and Union of Industry, Commerce and Finance Workers (UNICOF), umbrella workers union of all financial institutions in the country to achieve his objective.

It is, however, not surprising to see the front of the two union bodies come together to champion the cause of that executive director when in actual sense, UNICOF should have been the mediating body to seek for a common ground in the impasse between the workers union of the bank and its top management staff.

Deep throat sources within the two workers’ union hinted Today that majority of the revolting staff of ADB and UNICOF are reported to be unhappy with the trend of events, after discovering that they are being used by such executive director of the bank to fight for the number one position of the bank.

Interesting to note from their discovery is the alleged payment of US$35,000 to some top officials by that executive director of the ADB, ostensibly to lead the fight from insurgency from the UNICOF angle.

On the front of the bank’s workers union, the sources said is one of the top officials at the SME department of the bank who is aiding Mr. Kpordzi’s detractor.

The top official of the SME also (name withheld), according to inside sources, is well connected to Mr. Kpordzi’s detractor and the top executive members of UNICOF and is seen as the best person to execute the agenda from the front of the bank’s workers union.

According to sources within the revolting workers of the bank, such top manager of the SME department of the bank is the one who has been releasing information from the bank to the media.

The said manager is reported to be well connected to the media and some top politicians and businessmen in the country.

It is, however, not clear whether the said manager has also been paid huge sums of money to damage his boss (Mr. Kpordzi).

That top manager of the SME department, per information available to Today, has been caught on tape discussing how he intends to bring Mr. Kpordzi down, a recording which would soon be played on the airwaves.

Another revelation that has left many of the revolting staff reviewing their stance on the uproar is the seemingly extension of the in-fighting within the government by Northerners and Voltarians over who should occupy certain critical positions.

Our sources disclosed that Mr. Kpordzi’s detractor is also closely in touch with some aggrieved customers, who have huge financial obligations with the bank to settle to pursue his agenda.

Also included in this grand scheme is a former board member who feels that his removal from office was masterminded by Mr. Kpordzi.
