Ex Hearts Coach Takes a Dig At Hebert Addo

Former Hearts of Oak coach Mohammed Polo says the club’s inconsistency in the league is as a result of coach Addo’s failure to stamp his authority on the team.

Former Accra Hearts of Oak coach Mohammed Polo says current coach Hebert Addo has done nothing new since taking over from him.

The Phobians have not been consistent in the Ghana Premier League as they lie 10th with 20 points after the first half of the season.

Their Caf Confederation Cup campaign has been promising, but Polo, who was succeeded by Herbert Addo, says Hearts are still struggling under the veteran trainer.

“He (Herbert Addo) is still struggling. You saw what happened to him against Djoliba AC. They won in Bamako and came to Ghana to fumble,” Polo told Goal.

“There is a direction and everybody has their own way of doing things but I believe we must encourage those who have played football because that is their life.

“If we are going to encourage people who have just read the book and have not played to the highest level as coaches then we have a big problem.

“If you go to Europe, the former players are those who are coaching now, so I believe if you check what I did at Hearts and what Herbert is doing now, you can all see the difference.”

Hearts left for Tunisia on Wednesday ahead of the Caf Confederation Cup second round of eight first leg against Esperance.

The Phobians are hoping to record a favourable away outcome to smooth their part to the group stage.
