Fuel Increment Unnecessary And Unreasonable But NDC Communicator

Kwaku Boahen, a deputy communication officer of the ruling NDC has hit hard at the decision by his own government, the ruling Mahama-led National Democratic Congress (NDC) to increase fuel prices.

To him, the idea was “unnecessary and unreasonable” at this moment when Ghanaians want an end to the frustrating power crisis.

Personally, I think government shouldn’t have increased fuel prices. This is because the power crisis is yet to be solved and those using generators to power light will also have to go through hectic time to buy fuel due to the increment,” he said.

The National Petroleum Authority (NPA), last Saturday increased petroleum products by 9% with effect from Sunday, May 17, 2015. Petrol will now be sold at GHc3.33 per litre while Diesel will be sold at GHc3.24 per litre.

Kwaku Boahen who condemned the increment was however quick to say on Adom FM that “Government also has a responsibility to see the betterment of the state. So everything he [President Mahama] does has its own positive benefits to the nation”.
