Businessman Gaoled For Stealing Policewomans Car

A 42-year-old businessman, Patrick Adot-evie, has been sentenced to five months imprisonment by a circuit court here, for stealing a policewoman’s private car.

Adotevie pleaded guilty to the stealing charge contrary to section 124(1) of Act 29/60 as amended by 398 (4).

The prosecutor, Police Chief Inspector Comfort Kyei, told the court, presided over by Mrs Afia Adu-Amankwa, that Adotevie was a resident of Red Top, a suburb of Accra.

The prosecution said, in 2013 he befriended the policewoman, (name withheld), who was stationed at Nyinahini, in the Ashanti Region.

The prosecution said the policewoman bought a Mercedes Benz car, GS 3078-12, which she showed to Adotevie when she travelled to Accra.

The prosecution said, the policewoman invited Adotevie to visit her at her station, which he did.

The prosecution said the policewoman showed Adotevie the documents covering the car for inspection.

Adotevie after inspecting the documents, was said to have made the woman believe that, they (the documents) were fake and that he would use the said car to trace the person who sold it to her in Accra to get the genuine documents for her.

But, he went into hiding in Accra after collecting the vehicle so the policewoman reported the matter to the police who arrested him upon a tip-off.
