Calling For Resignation Of Afoko And Agyepong Is Premature- Political Scientist

Political Science Lecturer at the University of Ghana, Legon, Dr. Aggrey Darko says the attempt to impeach the National Chairman Paul Afoko and General Secretary Kwabena Agyapong will amount to comedy of error.

Some regional executives of the NPP have unanimously voted for the two leaders to temporarily step aside following the death of its Upper East Regional Chairman, Adams Mahama amidst the flouting of the Constitutional principles.

Party leaders in the Central, Volta, Eastern Western regions Monday decided that Mr. Afoko and Kwabena Agyepong be made to step aside until the police conclude investigations into the ghastly acid attack of the Upper East Chairman which led to his death.

According to him, it is premature for the those regional chairmen to call for the resignation or the impeachment of Paul Afoko and Kwabena Agyapong as there should be a room to give them fair hearing all the allegations leveled against them.

Speaking on Oman Fm’s National Agenda, the Senior Political Scientist urged to the regional chairmen of the NPP to exercise patience as it has not been clearly established that Paul Afoko and Kwabena Agyapong are causing trouble in the party.

“Sometimes we have to give some people the opportunity to serve; sometimes, those you don’t trust, give them the benefit of the doubt because there are some people you don’t trust but they excel when you give the opportunity to serve,” he urged.

He advised them to work in tandem to see if it will work by setting spies within the party to monitor their activities if there cause to doubt their loyalty to the flagbearer and to the party.

“I will suggest that the call for their resignation or impeachment is a bit premature in the sense that there should be fair hearing,” he suggested.
