Some Executives Calling For Resignation Of Afoko And Agyepong Is No News - NPP MP

Member of Parliament for Manhyia North, Hon. Collins Amankwa has expressed no surprise at the hasty approach by some executive members of the opposition New Patriotic Party to coerce the National Chairman, Paul Afoko and the General Secretary, Kwabena Agyepong to resign.

Some regional executives of the NPP have unanimously voted for the two leaders to step aside following the death of its Upper East Regional Chairman, Adams Mahama amidst the flouting of the Constitutional principles.

Party leaders in the Central, Volta, Eastern and Western regions Monday decided that Mr. Afoko and Kwabena Agyepong be made to step aside until the police conclude investigations into the ghastly acid attack of the Upper East Chairman which led to his death.

But reacting to the report, the NPP MP for Manhyia North said on Accra-based Top FM that the very things the NPP Chief Scribe has been accused of are nothing compare to what his predecessor did.

He maintained that Kwabena Agyepong has not taken any wrong decision in the party; indicating that prior to the congress in Tamale, some leading members of the party openly said they did not like the duo.

Prior to the time we were going for the congress, we heard people in the party who said they don’t like Paul Afoko and Kwabena Agyepong and all these things are public knowledge; it is not news to some of us,” he claimed.

He was of the view that the arguments of those who are demanding for the resignation of Paul Afoko and Kwabena Agyepong do not sound well as there is no clear charge levelled against the pair.

"...it is wrong to accuse Paul Afoko even if indeed his brother is involved in the acid attack on the late Upper East regional chairman, Adams Mahama," he added.
