Only Wishful Thinkers Say NPP Is Disintegrating - Sammy Awuku

Sammy Awuku, National Youth Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has challenged claims by a section of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) that his party is in shambles.

Speaking on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo", Sammy Awuku noted that challenges are inevitable and exist in every political party, for which the NDC is not exclusive.

According to him, the NPP is not fragmenting as some members of the ruling party purport.

Speaking to host Kwami Sefa Kayi, the NPP National Youth Organizer recounted some challenges the governing NDC faced years ago that led to a split in the party.

The split faction, he stated, formed their own parties to counter the operations of the National Democratic Congress.

He also alluded to the NDC Sunyani Congress that saw Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings contest the late President Mills.

To Sammy Awuku, the recent happenings in the NPP are not a novelty.

“NPP will not be the first party that has experienced challenges and won’t be the last…So, how can somebody then come to tell me that NPP is fragmented or NPP is disintegrating? It can be wishful thinking but wishes are not horses.”

Sammy Awuku therefore called on the public to let the NPP issue rest since there are many pressing national issues that deserve attention.

He further lambasted the NDC for failing to fix the economy even though his party proposed ways for Mahama administration to adopt to improve the economy.

“We have offered policy alternative on even restoring the value of the cedi. Did they listen to us? So that we won’t seek IMF bailout, did they listen to us? They did not pay heed. We’ve offered policy alternative on how to curb corruption. Several speeches and theories, and lectures we’ve given them; so what should we do?
