National Organizer of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), John Boadu says he is at loss by the letter written by his party’s National Chairman, Paul Afoko asking the Electoral Commission to ignore any earlier dealings with the party concerning the upcoming Parliamentary primaries.

National Chairman of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Paul Afoko, in a letter dated May 27, 2015, asked the EC to ignore any letter which is not signed by the party's General Secretary, Kwabena Agyepong.

According to reports, this letter was to stamp their (Paul Afoko, Kwabena Agyepong) authority on the National Executive Committee and also to ensure that nobody does anything without their knowledge.

The letter was also to nullify an earlier one allegedly written by the party's National Organizer, John Boadu concerning their upcoming polls.

Addressing the letter, John Boadu on Okay Fm’s "Ade Akye Abia" Morning Show dismissed the allegation by his National Chairman that he wrote to the EC or acted on his own without recourse to his General Secretary.

“I don’t see the problem sitting in for the General Secretary at a meeting with EC. I won’t just wake up one day to say I am going to write a letter as a National Organizer or visit the EC on my own; I have never done that and I will never do it. Any dealings with EC is not done through letters,” he bemoaned.

He maintained he is not responsible for writing letters in the party and added that the NPP has never discussed anything with the EC through letters.

He however feared that upon the directive of his National Chairman, Paul Afoko, this means the upcoming polls will delay unnecessarily if EC doesn’t go ahead to do sorting as required over the period to give notice of poll.

He was of the assertion that maybe his General Secretary, Kwabena Agyepong did not brief the National Chairman that he wrote the letter to the Electoral Commission to nullify the earlier arrangement with the EC.

“I don’t think in this party of ours we should say the authority to deal with EC should be through only one or two persons. I think that should be a decision at the Steering Committee, National Executive Committee and National Council. It is not in our constitution that we should allow one or two authorities to deal with the EC; we don’t do that in a party,” he asserted.
