Winning 2016 Best Tribute To Adams Mahama Dan Botwe

The Minority Chief Whip in Parliament, Mr Dan Botwe, has stated that the best tribute the New Patriotic Party (NPP) supporters can give to the late Upper East Regional Chairman, Adams Mahama, is to close their ranks and work hard for victory in the 2016 election.

He noted that having had a personal relationship with Mahama, he was aware that his greatest wish would have been that the NPP take over power from the National Democratic Congress(NDC) and "that is the greatest honour we can give to him".

Mr Botwe made this remark when he visited the bereaved families in Bolgatanga last Monday to express his condolences to them. He visited the late chairman's extended family house where he met the family head, and the eldest brother of the late Mahama, Alhaji Musah Awuni, the family spokesperson, Mr Rockson Bukari, and Mr Nuhu Issah, an elder brother of the deceased.

At the late chairman's private residence, Mr Botwe met the widow, Hajia Zainabu Mahama, and the children.

Mr Botwe, who is also the Member of Parliament for the Okere Constituency of the NPP in the Eastern Region, expressed regret that he was in Abuja in Nigeria when he heard about the tragic death of his friend. According to him, he could not wait any longer for the final funeral rites (Adua) to come off before he could meet the family and so he decided to immediately see them to express his condolences.

Mr Botwe equally thanked the family for the manner in which they handled the whole sad event as it was particularly a very painful death and a great loss.

Family response
In response, Mr Bukari and Alhaji Awuni expressed their gratitude to Mr Botwe for the visit and expressed the hope that God would help ease the pain to allow peace to reign in their hearts.

Hajia Mahama also thanked Mr Botwe for the visit.

Holland Base
At the NPP Holland Base area located opposite the Bolgatanga Central Mosque, where Chairman Mahama used to sit and chat with his friends during his leisure hours, Mr Botwe interacted with some of the friends.

He told them, "His death, much as it is sad, should ginger us to come together, take our time, plan well, train dedicated people to win power; and we would work hard to win power.”
