NPP Gurus Endorse Nana B

With the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) sets to organize its crucial constituency primaries to select parliamentary candidates ahead of the 2016 elections, many candidates have intensified their campaign activities in their bid to secure the slots in the Ashanti Region, the stronghold of the party.

With campaign briefly disrupted by recent confusion within the party, aspirants in the 47 constituencies have reportedly swung their campaign back to full gear, holding meetings with delegates and undertaking other activities in their constituencies to enhance their chances.

One of the constituencies which is expected to witness a major contest, as a result of legal controversies, is the Manhyia North Constituency where one of the leading candidates, Henry Nana Boakye, has received massive endorsements from some leading figures of the party.

The former General Secretary, Lawyer Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, popularly known as Sir John, as well as a founding member of the party, Mr. George Ayisi Boateng, have both endorsed the candidature of Nana Boakye and are calling on delegates of the party to give him the nod.

The two leading figures made the call when they participated in a community games organized by the aspirant last week to revive activities of the party at the grassroots level and also to commemorate the African Union Day. The programme, dubbed “Nana B Unity Gala”, was also meant to ensure unity within the opposition and encourage supporters to work with one purpose towards victory in 2016.

Sir John in his address to the teeming crowd, described Nana Boakye as an intelligent and energetic youth activist of the party, who represents the younger generation of the party. He said the initiative was a laudable one since it would reinvigorate the spirit of the youth in particular to sacrifice their time and energy for the party.

The former General Secretary of the party NPP further noted that: “the future of the party belongs to the youth”, stressing that at a period where the NDC administration has failed to implement policies and programmes that would engender growth and provide hope for the youth, it was incumbent upon the NPP to work hard and ensure victory to salvage the country from the harsh economic conditions.

On his part, Mr. Ayisi Boateng commended the aspirant for his immense contribution particularly as a member of the Communication Team who has to shuttle between Kumasi and Accra, in order to promote the vision and ideology of the party and its flagbearer, Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo Addo.

He, therefore, advised the young men to stay united as the essence of the gala depicts and remain resolute in the face of difficulties in order to achieve victory for the NPP.

The communities involved in the first phase of the gala competition included Buokrom, Duase, Dote, Sepe and Buokrom Estate. Nana Boakye told The Chronicle in an interview that the competition would be extended to other areas such as Moshie Zongo and Krofrom, as part of efforts to sustain unity within the party.
