Akufo-Addos Leadership Quality Is Questionable Enough... - Baby Ansaba

Managing Editor of The New Punch Newspaper, Ebenezer Ato Sam also known as Baby Ansaba has called on the leadership of the opposition New Patriotic Party to stamp its authority on the ex parte motion filed at High Court.

The court action has restrained candidates like Isaac Owiredu Amofa, Dome-Kwabenya; Adwoa Amoako, Ayawaso Central; Carlos Kingsley Ahenkorah, Tema West; Ramseyer Agyemang Prempeh, Tema Central and Vicky Bright, Okaikoi South, from holding themselves up as qualified parliamentary aspirants of their respective constituencies.

It would be recalled that a press release issued by the party and signed by Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, General Secretary, contained decisions taken by the Steering Committee on behalf of the National Executive Committee (NEC) under a Certificate of Urgency of which the above candidates were cleared to contest the impending primaries set for June 14, 2015.

The suit, AP 159/2015, filed at the court presided over by K.A. Ofori Atta, purportedly granted the interlocutory injunction on the candidates and the NPP for 10 days until a hearing of an appeal by the National Vetting Appeal Board of the party.

The candidates might not take part in the parliamentary primaries slated for June 14, 2015, until the hearing of the appeal by the National Vetting Appeal Board of the NPP, which is the defendant in the matter sent to the court.

But reacting to the issue on Oman Fm’s National Agenda, Baby Ansaba cautioned the NPP leadership not to allow the repetition of the same mistake in 2012 as the party suffered defeat by the aspirants they disqualified unduly.

“NPP should stem on its authority in this court case to avoid skirt and blouse voting. Will NPP have the moral right to say it will punish anybody who goes independence in this case? They should avoid the same mistake, they made in last elections….NPP should not allow this little issue to continue otherwise it will erode the confidence of the supporters and sympathizers have in them,” he cautioned.

He reminded the NPP that it takes numbers for political party to win power, stressing that as there is no criminal records associated to the aspirants, they should be allowed to contest in their respective constituencies.

He insisted the NPP leadership should allow the delegates to decide on the candidates they prefer, adding the incumbent MPs should not fear competition if they believe in their work in their various constituencies.

To him, “the leadership quality of the NPP’s leader, Nana Akufo-Addo is questionable enough to add this court case to it to make it worse”.
