Alhaji Dori Predicts Economic Fortunes For Bawku As Peace Prevails

Bawku Municipal is one of the thirteen (13) districts and municipalities in the Upper East Region of Ghana. The municipality has a total land area of about 1215 05 sq km and shares boundaries with Burkina Faso and the Republic of Togo.

The administrative capital is Bawku and for sometime past, the area has experienced series of conflicts.

However, a member of the National Democratic Congress and an indigene of Bawku, Alhaji Ibrahim Dori is optimistic that the area would bounce back and reclaim its bragging right in terms of economic activities following the wind of peace blowing on the land.

Peacefmonline.com interviewed Alhaji Dori about his time and he reiterated that Bawku has for some time now experienced instability because of tribal and political conflicts.

As a businessman, he was quick to point out that the level of investments in the area has sky rocketed following the peace in the area.

He lauded the people of Bawku and urged them to continue living in peace so as to promote goodwill and promote the economic fortunes of the town.

It is also my prayer that the Bawku Inter-Ethnic Peace Committee (BIEPC) which was inaugurated by the Upper East Regional Minister, Mr James Tiigah in May this year, will work with the highest point of cooperation and respect to help harmonise and maintain the peace and security of the town”, he said.
