Adapt Healthy Lifestyles To Avoid Cholera

The rains have set in and as a way of preventing an outbreak of cholera, the Ghana Health Service is stepping up efforts to educate the public on precautionary measures that should be taken.

In an interview with Radio Ghana, the Director General of the Ghana Health Service, Dr Ebenezer Appiah-Denkyira advised Ghanaians to adapt healthy lifestyles such as washing of hands after visiting places of convenience, covering their food, eating warm food and using hand sanitizers.

He informed the public to clean their environment and resort to the use of mosquito nets to avoid malaria infection.

He said with the onset of the rains, there is likely to be an increase in the population of mosquitos which transmit the disease.

The rainy season is here again and when it rains many people are affected. The effects of the rains come in different forms.

It either brings cholera outbreak or homes get flooded as a result of poor drainage systems.
