'Listen to Nana Akufo Addo' - Dan Botwe

A former General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr Dan Botwe, has called  on all the party’s executives to pay heed to the call by Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the party's flag-bearer, and former President John Agyekum Kufour to bury their differences for the sake of the party.

The ex-General Secretary who is also the Member of Parliament (MP) for the Okere Constituency and the Minority Whip in Parliament made the call when he visited the family of the late Upper East Regional Chairman of the NPP, Mr Mahama Adams Akabila on Monday to express his condolences.

Mr Botwe who was accompanied by some of the regional elders of the party including some regional Executives, explained that at the time of the death of Mr Mahama he was away  in Abuja to attend a meeting of the ECOWAS Parliament.

Mr Botwe said the late Adams was not only a party member, but also a friend, and that he deemed it necessary to   pay a visit to the family to express his condolences before the final funeral rites which has been scheduled for next Sunday.

He told the National, Regional and Constituency Executives, as well as Polling Station attendants and entire party supporters that the only thing they could do for the late Adams was to bury their differences and rally behind the flag bearer to annex power in the 2016 election.

“For the sake of the party  we should all  as party executives and party members listen to the advice of  our flag bearer and the former President by closing our ranks  and working hard together  to ensure victory for the party in the forthcoming election”, he stressed.

Mr Botwe called on all former executives including the party elders to come on board and work for the party to win power in the 2016 election.

The former General Secretary  who also interacted with the “NPP Holland based  Youth Group”  with which the late Adams  used to be very much associated,  called on them to remain calm and  reiterated that the party would help provide support for the late Adams'  family, particularly the education of his children.

The head of the family, Mr Iliasu Musah Akalbila, thanked Mr Botwe and the party in general for the sympathy and support they demonstrated to the family after the demise of the late Adams and wished the party victory in the 2016 election.

After Mr Botwe had interacted with them on charting the way forward, the Regional Elders of the party appealed to him to bring his vast rich experience to help the party overcome its challenges.

The former General Secretary was accompanied by Dr Clifford Braimah, the former Northern Regional Secretary of the party, Mr Abdul-Rahman Gumah, a former Municipal Chief Executive of Bawku, Mr Rockson Bukari, former Bolgatanga Municipal Chief Executive, the Regional Secretary of the party, Mr Cletus Ayambire, the National Youth Organizer and Mr Emmanuel Atafuah, special aide to Mr Botwe, as well as some elders of the party.
