Carlos Ahenkorah Committed To Unity

Carlos Ahenkorah, an aspiring parliamentary candidate of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) from the Tema West constituency has pledged his total commitment to unite the party for victory after the June 13, primaries.

He again pledged to extend hands to all aggrieved party members in order to achieve the peace and unity the party desires.

The Chief Executive Officer of Carloking Freight Services promised to work closely with party members when given the mandate to represent them in parliament in the 2016 general election.

“Having identified unity as a tool that ensures the attainment of the collective desire and aspirations of a people, I pledge to use this tool of unity at all times.”

Mr. Ahenkorah made the pledge over the weekend at the launch of his campaign and unveiling of his campaign office.

The edifice which was filled with the presence of the party, with picture frames of all the leaders of the party, from J. B Dankwa to the current leaders, also contained the seat of some of the constituency executives, among other facilities to enhance their comfort during party work.

The occasion was also graced by some party executives from the diaspora, Lawyer Abraham Adu, former MP for the area, Hajia Fati, a serial caller, former Mayor of Tema, David Annang and former party executives.

He said he would bring on board a new leadership style “servant leadership” that seeks the welfare of polling stations and their executives, network all polling stations through regular meetings,  implement feasible suggestions and accept all constructive criticisms from all.

Regular interaction among party members, according to him, would ensure the promotion of the presence of the NPP in the entire constituency.

In order to encourage commitment to party duties, he assured party members of an award scheme to reward party members who dedicate their strength and time for the party.

The award scheme will motivate others to also have the interest of the party at heart, also a scholarship award for brilliant but needy students will rolled out.

Mr. Ahenkorah who went through several challenges to deter him from contesting the incumbent MP, Irene Naa Torshi Addo after declaring his intention disclosed that he is not afraid of the incumbent MP's decision to appeal the decision.

The NPP Steering Committee cleared him recently after he was disqualified from the race by the party's vetting committee for not nurturing the NPP in the constituency for four years.

Meanwhile, former majority leader of parliament, Abrahma Osei Adu who chaired the function said history is about to repeat itself in the constituency and that he knew “this day will come.”

He urged party members to eschew false propaganda if they do want to remain an orphan constituency.

The three-time MP for the area emphasized vote buying in the party should stop, the act according to him “is killing our democracy.”

He commended Mr. Ahenkorah for the edifice, which according to him was never done in the constituency with a call on party delegates to support him massively.

One Adu Aboagye commended Mr. Ahenkorah for the giant step in providing the party with the edifice, while other well-wishers cautioned delegates to let their yes be yes after committing themselves.
