Three persons were on Wednesday put before an Accra Circuit Court for conspiracy to commit crime and robbery.
Derrick Asasa, Michael Lamptey Lantei, and Issah Issaka all unemployed, were said to have conspired and robbed some drivers of their vehicles in Accra.
They all pleaded not guilty to the charges before the Court presided over by Mr Francis Obiri but were remanded to reappear on June 9.
Prosecuting, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Ernest Acheampong told the court that; the complainants are all taxi drivers in Accra.
He said on May 17, at about 2320 hours Derrick and Michael joined the car of Solomon, the first complainant, from Kwame Nkrumah Circle to Odorkor Tipper, and on reaching a spot near Osei Kwame, at Odorkor, Derrick turned the ignition key of the vehicle and asked Solomon to stop but he ignored him.
He said Michael pulled out a knife and inflicted wounds on Solomon and ordered him to surrender both the car keys and his money else he would be killed.
The prosecution said Derrick and Michael succeeded in pulling Solomon out of the vehicle where Issah was waiting. They entered the vehicle and made an attempt to escape with it but were faced with difficulty in moving it.
He told the court that Solomon raised the alarm and an angry mob pounced on Derrick and Michael at the scene and got them arrested.
DSP Acheampong said they were subsequently handed over to the police for investigation.
While investigations were going on another complainant, Joseph also came with cutlass wound on his right hand and lodged a complaint against the accused persons that they used a similar method to snatch his vehicle from him at Odorkor.
He said on May 19, an identification parade was held at Odorkor Police Station and two other complainants also identified the accused persons as those who robbed them of their mobile phones, monies, and vehicles.
