UPP Commiserates With Ghanaians

The leadership of the United Progressive Party is shocked and distressed by the floods and the fire incidents that have claimed over 200 human lives in Accra.

We support the Ghana Catholic Bishops’ Conference call for the government of Ghana as a matter of urgency to consider the re-planning of the national capital, Accra, as a measure to avoid the persistent flooding.
These floods across the nation are avoidable if successive governments were proactive in providing the necessary drainage facilities.

We commend President Mahama for releasing Fifty Million Ghana cedis to support the bereaved families and victims of the floods and the fire incidents, but moving forward as a nation we have to focus on how to provide top-notch drainage systems as well as re-plan the 10 regional capitals.

We shall respectfully join Ghanaians to observe the three days of national mourning being declared by President Mahama.

We would like to encourage the bereaved families and victims to strengthen themselves in the Lord Almighty.
