Flood In Accra Is Not A New Phenomenon - Ade Coker

Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Joseph Ade Coker says flood in Accra is not a new phenomenon and therefore should not be politicized.

“It is not new so people must stop politicizing everything in this country” he said.

He said the problem is a systematic failure in the country that precedes the NDC so they cannot be held liable.

Speaking on  Peace FM Firday, Ade Coker said many people throw plastics and other solid waste into the gutters which eventually blocks the water ways thereby causing flood in various part of the country.

In what he named as an action call, the Regional Chairman said the people living around Odorna and Old Fadama also known as Sodom and Gomorra in Accra must immediately be evacuated because they are part of the major problem faced by the nation.

“The people at these areas must be cleared….they all came from somewhere and they must go back. This is not a wakeup call it’s an action call” he added.

Ade Coker also bemoaned how people indiscriminately build kiosk and containers in water ways in spite of the dangers it poses to human life.

Mr. Ade Coker however believes there must be a paradigm shift in the country.

“Even though the government has a responsibility, we should make sure our system work” he concluded.
