The first week in the month of June saw some increases in the price of foods, of between 1% and 6%, in the various Ghanaian markets.
Tomato however, recorded a loss of 7 percent in price. A medium size tomato tin full of fresh tomato went for an average price of GHS 10.08.
An olonka of white beans was sold at an average price of GHS 7.18 representing a marginal gain of 1% from last week’s price of GHS 7.08.
The highest gain of the week (6%) was made by groundnut (shelled). It went for GHS 11.91.
A visit to some of the markets revealed that a medium size tin full of fresh tomato was sold for GHS 14.26 in Agbogbloshie representing a 20% increase in price.
Tamale also recorded 85 increase to close the week at 8.10GHS. Kumasi, Techiman and Dambai also saw an increase of 5 percent to close the week at GHS 7.56, 7.92 and 8.10 respectively.
