Dont Throw Refuse In Gutters

Tema Metro NADMO Co-ordinator, Hajia Zainab Abdulai, has charged Ghanaians to stop throwing refuse into gutters when it is raining.

The practice of throwing solid waste into gutters, Hajia Zianab said, contributed to flooding in the country.

Madam Zainab made this observation when her outfit donated assorted relief items to victims of last week’s floods that hit some parts of Tema.

The items included 300 mattresses, 300 pieces of blankets, 300 pieces of mosquito nets, 20 cartons of mosquito coils and 20 cartons of soap.

According to her, the refuse normally chokes the gutters which result in flood and subsequent deaths of innocent Ghanaians.

The areas that were affected by the floods included Klagon, Tema New Town and parts of Communities 3 and 5.

She said the items would serve as a source of relief to the victims whilst government found a lasting solution to the perennial flooding.

Hajia Zainab also tasked the beneficiaries of the items to make good use of them.
