NDC Sacks 2 Executives Over DCE Demo

The Eastern Regional secretariat of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has at its executive committee meeting held on Tuesday, June 9, 2015, suspended Theodor Doh and John Tsatsu, the vice chairman and the organizer of Afram Plains South constituency respectively, from the party.

The decision was reportedly necessitated by claims that the two gentlemen refused to honour the executive committee’s invitation on the issue of “demonstration against the DCE.”

A statement issued and signed by the regional secretary of the NDC, Kevor Mark-Oliver, stated that the two constituency executives made derogatory remarks on Eastern 105.1 Fm – a local radio station in Koforidua, Eastern Regional capital – on Tuesday, June 9, 2015, giving credence to the intended demonstration against the DCE for Afram Plains South District, which was eventually organized on the same day.

According to Mr Mark- Oliver, the demonstration flouted the Regional Executive Committee’s directive for it to be halted to allow a meeting between the stakeholders involved.

The two suspended executives on Tuesda however, led a massive demonstration against the DCE, Ibrahim Issaka, whom they accused of misappropriating and mismanaging the assembly’s funds.

However, the action by Theodor Doh and John Tsatsu, according to the party, clearly contravenes Article 39 of the NDC constitution in relation to the code of conduct for party members and executives.

Mark-Oliver hinted that the sanction was to enable the two gentlemen go through the necessary disciplinary procedures.

The matter, as gathered has since been referred to the disciplinary committee of the party

Over 500 angry youth wearing red bands and holding placards with numerous inscriptions, chanted war songs las Tuesday with John Tsats leading, to protest agains the DCE.

They called on President John Mahama to remove him from office immediately for purported misappropriation of the district assembly’s common fund.
