Ashanti Regional Minister Commends Asantehene

The Ashanti regional minister, Peter Anarfi Mensah, has commended the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II for his support towards ensuring that the region is well positioned in all aspects of development.

His unflinching support in the implementation of government’s programmes in the region and his readiness in releasing land for the ongoing construction of the Lands Commission’s office complex in Kumasi and all other government sponsored projects he underlined, are remarkable and commendable.

Making this known at a sod-cutting ceremony for the construction of the Lands Commission office complex which when completed will accommodate other government institutions, the minister announced that the offered parcel of land by the Asantehene for the project has paved the way for a great relief since the council has been in the situation where it is always under pressure in providing offices and residential accommodation for departments and staff posted to the metropolis.

The project, he noted, forms part of the creation of a congenial atmosphere for investment in the region since it will provide a one-stop shop for land administration.

With the level of land related disputes in the region and the nation at large, officials of the Lands Commission, he advised, should ensure that sanity is brought into the land administration system.

Mr Anarfi challenged that officials must instill order and discipline into the market through curbing the incidence of land encroachment, unapproved development schemes , multiple or illegal sales , land speculation and other forms of land racketeerin.

The commission, he again tasked, should help minimize where possible the source of protracted land boundary disputes and conflicts and litigation in order to bring all upheavals under control.
