Ex-Presidents Are Reservoirs Of Wisdom - Eastwood Anaba

Reverend Eastwood Anaba, Founder of Fountain Gate Chapel, has noted that the former Presidents in the country, are reservoirs of wisdom which could be tapped to deal with disasters.

“Ex-Presidents like, Presidents Jerry John Rawlings and John Agyekum Kufuor are reservoirs of wisdom that we can fall on when calamities strike the nation,” Rev Anaba said on Wednesday during a National Memorial Service held for victims of the June 3 floods and fire tragedy

President John Dramani Mahama declared three days of mourning for the victims during which flags were expected to fly at half-mast across the country.

In an exhortation speech, Rev Anaba urged Ghanaians to unite and take positive actions that involved expertise from diverse fields, to solve the chronic flooding in the capital city.

He also urged the people to put aside their political colours, age differences, and tribal status, to seek and offer assistance for the survivors of the disaster.

“Take care of the surviving people, they do not have to panic because sometimes fear can be dangerous than death,” he said.

The state mourning was rounded up with a National Memorial Service held at the forecourt of the State House, which was attended by Vice President Paa Kwesi Bekoe Amissah-Arthur, and former Presidents Rawlings and Kufuor.

Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party and his vice Dr Muhamudu Bawumia, as well as Mr Edward Doe-Adjaho, the Speaker of Parliament and Mrs Georgina Theodora Wood, Chief Justice, also attended the service.

The occasion was also graced by members of the diplomatic corps, Ministers of State, the Clergy, Muslim leaders, Members of Parliament, and a host of families of the victims.
