MP Dumps Wife And Kid

Veronica Essuman, wife of the Member of Parliament for Amenfi Central in the Western Region, George Kofi Arthur, is alleging that her husband of eight years has thrown her out of their matrimonial home, chasing university ladies. Veronica, with tear-filled eyes and a broken voice of agony, said Mr. Kofi Arthur had also abandoned their three-year-old daughter and that they currently beg for food and perch in the homes of friends as they had nowhere to sleep in Accra, adding that she was planning to return to her fathers house in Kumasi.George has changed since he became MP. He said I am not a graduate and then he started by bringing women home and sleeping with them in our bedroom and asking me to sleep in the hall. When I complained, he beat me. Now, he has just moved everything out of the house and left me and our daughter. She is three years and keeps asking me where her father is. I do not know where exactly he is staying but I hear he lives with one of his university graduates. We have been married for the past eight yearsIt was a traditional marriage and everybody was present there from both families, a sobbing Veronica narrated. When Daily Guide called Kofi Arthur on his mobile phone to check on his wifes story, he did not pick the call, so the paper was compelled to send him an sms text message which explained the reason for the call. Minutes later, a female voice called back and said the number was a wrong line after which she switched off the phone. Meanwhile, the MP has told a media house that Veronica Essuman is not his wife; but they only have a daughter and he had stayed with her in the same room for years at Block F Apartment 13 at the MPs Flat at Sakumono Estates near Tema. Kofi Arthur was reported to have explained that he had paid all necessary compensations to Veronica; except for her request of an accommodation which costs GH250 a month. But a sobbing Veronica told Daily Guide she had not been given a cedi by the MP and that the issue of compensation from him was just a figment of his imagination. Veronica said she first met George Kofi Arthur when he was a student of the University of Education, Winneba, at the Kumasi Campus, adding that she was then a seamstress, supporting him financially with proceeds from her shop.
