Come Support Me Stephen Appiah

Former Ghana captain Stephen Appiah has called on all, especially members of the sporting fraternity, to support him in his testimonial match at the Accra Stadium on June 27.

Appiah, in the company of Team Primeval Media, organizers of the event, yesterday officially invited Chief Justice, Her Ladyship Georgina Woode and her team for the testimonial game.

He also appealed to the Judiciary to rally behind him for the fundraising dinner intended to raise funds for the Stephen Appiah Foundation.

The ex-Juventus man indicated, “Your Lordship, as a footballer, I dedicated myself to serving the country both on the local and international levels. As I hang my boots, I found it worthy to come to the custodians of our laws to inform you about my hard decision to quit my passion, which is football.

“Though I am leaving the field, I am not leaving football forever. I am ready to continue serving my country in any capacity I find myself. Please tell members of the Judicial Service to come in their numbers to support the event and watch me play again with a galaxy of stars from across the globe,” said Appiah.

A Supreme Court Judge, His Lordship Justice Anin Yeboah, who stood in for the Chief Justice, together with Justice Sulley Gbadegbe said, “We have been following your exploits. Not every player gets to the zenith. Very few players get to where you got to, playing for a big club like Juventus.

“The history of this country will not be complete without the mention of your name. We will support you as you officially take a bow. Your contribution to your community, Chorkor, registering many under the National Health Insurance Scheme, is highly commendable. You didn’t forget your roots.”
