Goat Thieves Using BMW Arrested

Three alleged goat thieves did the unusual - using a posh BMW car on their afternoon expedition at Teshie, a suburb of Accra - but could not outwit the alertness of residents of the area.

Two of the suspects - Eric Kwame, a trader, 35; and Razak Kotoka, a fisherman, 35 - are in the grips of the Teshie Police Command while the third suspect, whose name has been withheld by the other suspects, is on the run.

DSP Simon Agbodeka, who spoke to The Finder about the arrest, stated that his outfit received a distress call on June 9 at about 3:25pm that some suspected goat thieves were about to be lynched.

According to him, men were quickly dispatched to the scene to avert the situation. On reaching the scene, police saw that the two who were caught were severely beaten and the BMW’s windscreen also smashed.

The mob stated that the thieves were about stealing another goat when the owner chanced on them and raised an alarm.

The police arrested the suspects and took them to the police station, where four goats were discovered in the boot of the car.

In their caution statement, the suspects admitted the offence, and are being processed for court.

At the station, one of the goats died due to suffocation while another has since being identified by the owner.
