The half Assini Police have arrested a 40-year-old palm wine tapper from Tadane in the Ellembele District for beating his partner to death for denying him sex.
The Jomoro District Police Commander, Superintendent John Furgeson Dzineku, said the suspect, Emu Kwaw, and the deceased, Madam Kaku Emma, have been in an amorous relationship for the past two years.
Superintendent Dzineku said a misunderstanding ensued between the suspect and the woman on May 26.
According to Superintendent Dzineku, a brother of Emma settled the matter the following day and the two passed the night at Samenye.
He said during the night, Kwaw attempted to have sex with the woman, who refused.
Kwaw, therefore, subjected Madam Emma to severe beating and later held her throat to prevent her from raising alarm.
Superintendent Dzineku said in the process, Emma became unconscious and died while she was being rushed to the Eikwe Catholic Hospital.
Her body has since been deposited at the morgue of Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital at the Sekondi for autopsy while Police investigations into the incident continue.
