NDC In-Fighting Blows Up

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Lower Manya Krobo constituency in the Eastern Region, Ebenezer Okletey Tei-Larbi, has won by default judgment, a GH¢ 2 million law suit against the former Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the area, Isaac Agbo Tetteh over allegations that he (the MP) is a cocaine dealer.

The MP, sued the former MCE at an Accra Fast Track High Court over what he described as defamatory comments made against him by the former MCE.

However, the defendant failed to make appearance in court on several occasions when the case was called, hence the default judgment.

The judge in his ruling slapped damages of GH¢2 million against the defendant and restrained him from making any defamatory remarks about the plaintiff henceforth.

The former MCE was alleged to have leveled wild allegations against the MP on Television Africa and other media houses that, the MP is a cocaine dealer.

The allegation followed the arrest of the Lower Manya Krobo constituency youth organizer of the ruling National Democratic Congress, David Tettey Kwame, at the Kotoka International Airport during a swoop by security officials for allegedly attempting to smuggle huge consignments of a substance believed to be cocaine through the Tema Port.

The allegation sought to link the 29-year-old constituency youth organizer who is a clearing agent and a special assistant in-charge of protocol to the MP for the area, Mr Tei-Larbi.

The MCE who is alleged to have instigated the plot to link the MP to the matter allegedly went to the media to accuse the MP of masterminding the alleged cocaine smuggle attempt.

The MP who was not happy about the comment of the former MCE, dragged him to court and filed a suit demanding GH¢2 million against him which was granted by the Accra Fast Track High Court.
