Bribery In NPP Primaries Not Surprising; They Are Simply Too Good At It Kofi Adams

National Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is not surprised by the huge amount of monies doled out to delegates during the New Patriotic Party's parliamentary primaries which saw many incumbent Members of Parliament losing their seats.

According to Kofi Adams, the NPP is noted for giving bribes to the electorate to win votes, even when they are seeking to be polling station executives.

Last Saturday's NPP parliamentary primary ended with records of some shocking defeats and fascinating victories to the extent that some of the defeated incumbent MPs cannot still come to terms with their defeats.

As some defeated candidates accepted the results and pledged to work together for the party to win political power, others said the polls had been rigged because delegates were influenced with money.

Former General Secretary of the NPP, Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie has also decried what he says was the high level of ‘monecracy’ exhibited by the Party’s delegates and parliamentary aspirants in last weekend’s primaries.

Kofi Adams, speaking on Okay FM’s "Ade Akye Abia" Morning Show, noted that the NDC has learnt a lot of lessons with regard to the behavior exhibited by the opposition party in terms of sharing items and monies to induce delegates to vote.

I was not surprised at all when I heard that aspirants are bribing delegates to vote for them because with NPP, one needs to expect anything from them. We have really learnt so many things from what happened."

He continued saying, “yes I know that a candidate needs to show appreciation but what the NPP exhibited in their primaries was nothing to write home about”.
