Affected BECE Candidates Can Sue WAEC - Lawyer

Private legal practitioner, Abraham Amaliba says candidates affected by the recent cancellation of Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) papers can sue examination body, the West Africa Examination Council (WAEC) and demand compensation.

The legal practitioner's argument is on the backdrop of arguments that WAEC should be blamed for the leakage of the examination questions.

The students, he said, should be excused from the blame.

Speaking on Accra-based Kasapa FM Wednesday, Mr. Amaliba said if the students can show proof of inconveniences, then they reserve the right to sue WAEC in the law court for compensation.

“If the student can prove any inconveniences, they should sue for compensation...,” he said.

Mr. Amaliba who is also a member of the NDC legal team advised all member-states of WAEC to come together and ensure sanity in the system.
